Commtouch’s friends and family aren’t immune to receiving suspect messages. The Commtouch team was recently asked to check out an email that a friend had received. The email offered her a job for which she did not apply.
So what’s the position? – Payment Processing Agent – to help secure deals by processing payment through “reliable agents”… — Right, with a Gmail address, it sounds very fraudulently familiar. These types of companies require “agents” to transfer funds deposited into their private accounts to specific recipients. In exchange for the money transfer the agent receives a commission and/or a salary. These job offers are always illegal and the agent is actually acting as a “mule” in a global money laundering scheme.
This Fairline scam has been around for a few years now. The “Bobbear” site has also analyzed the Fairline site and owners and come to the same conclusion – see here. So double check everything and never trust an email that offers you a job, or easy money. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.
