NEW! Data443 Acquires Vaikora – Real-Time AI Runtime Control & Enforcement for AI Agent
IP reputation is a real-time risk score for a network IP address based on observed behavior: scanning, attack origination, anonymizer usage, botnet membership, command-and-control role, and abuse history. Cyren ships an IP reputation feed integrated into Vaikora policy and into third-party SIEMs and gateways.
Network-level blocking remains useful even as attackers shift to rotating infrastructure. The cost of an IP reputation check is microseconds; the value of blocking a known scanner before it reaches the application layer is high. Reputation feeds also extend the reach of detection rules: a SIEM correlation that flags low-confidence behavior gets a confidence boost when the source IP is also reputation-flagged.
The category is mature. Reputation engines compete on coverage (how many IPs they observe), freshness (how quickly they update), and signal quality (how accurately they label categories). Cyren operates a global sensor network that observes traffic in inbound email, web requests, and dedicated sensor deployments.
IP reputation is a subset of threat intelligence. It pairs with URL reputation and indicators of compromise in most blocking decisions.
A web application firewall queries Cyren IP reputation on every inbound request. Requests from IPs flagged as scanners are dropped before reaching the application. A second example: Vaikora policy includes a rule that blocks AI agent outbound calls to destinations whose IPs are flagged by Cyren as C2 infrastructure, providing a defense even when the agent itself is compromised by prompt injection.
Blocklists are binary lists. Reputation is a continuous score with confidence and category metadata. Modern security tooling has largely moved from blocklists to reputation-based decisions.
Yes. Reputation engines apply different decay curves to IPs that change owner frequently. An IP that recently passed from a malicious actor to a benign tenant should not block the new tenant indefinitely.
Vaikora’s domain-risk content module incorporates IP reputation when evaluating AI agent network calls. A high-risk IP in the destination tuple changes the policy verdict in real time.
Yes. Cyren provides IP lookup APIs for self-service reputation checks. Useful for outbound-mail reputation management and for verifying that your egress IPs are not falsely flagged.
