IBM Informix is a relational database management system (RDBMS) that uses SQL to access, store, modify and delete data. IBM Informix is available as a software subscription and as an on-premises product. IBM Informix uses the SQL query language to retrieve and modify data. Most IBM Informix implementations communicate with remote clients through its proprietary DataBlade API. It can be classified as a pure-play data warehouse, competing with the likes of Teradata and Netezza.
